Why so Dry? Why is natural hair so dry?

Why so Dry? Why is natural hair so dry?

Whether your hair strands are wavy, curly, kinky, S-shaped or Z-shaped, all those curves hinder your scalp's natural oils from reaching the ends of your hair.

Why so Dry?!?

Whether your hair strands are wavy, curly, kinky, S-shaped or Z-shaped, or combinationed; all those curves hinder your scalp's natural oils from reaching the ends of your hair.

Everyone's scalp produces lubricating oils, called sebum. However, the oil has a much more challenging time navigate its way down the zigs and zags, twists and turns of wavy, curly and kinky textured hair fiber.

Without the natural oils coating and lubricating the hair, the fibers become very dry, brittle, dull and more prone to breakage...all the symptoms of a very DRY Life.

OTHER CAUSES OF DRY HAIR

  1. The drying effects of popular hair products, take the mositure from our hair, over-worked, over-styled hair

  2. Haircolor & chemical treatments,

  3. Transitioning to natural.

  4.  Heat applicaiton and styling

  5. The drying effects of the elements (sun, wind and airborne pollutants) are robbing our hair of moisture and

These are all signs of a DRY HAIR TAKE OVER leading to breakage & slow-growth.

Hydrating vs. Moisturizing the Hair

What’s the Difference?

So many people don't know the difference and we use the words interchangeably, but they are very different and our hair pays the price for our miseducation.

Hydrating the Hair- The process of using humectants, proteins, amino acids and critical vitamins that penetrate the hair fiber infusing and improving the absorption of water and nutrients so that the hair holds and retains moisture.

Moisturizing the Hair- The process of using butters and oils to coat the OUTER surface of the hair fiber sealing and locking down the hair shaft so moisture can not get in or out of the fiber.

Simply Put….FIRST you HYDRATE the hair to penetrate, absorb & nourish the hair from within. THEN you seal and lock down the hair shaft with a MOISTURIZER to keep the moisture in the hair.

Great so far!

I found this item listed as healthy styler for medium to strong hold in "Wash Your Damn Hair" - I have never heard of this product before then.

This is EXACTLY what i was looking for, I used it as a midweek reset on my hair - i came back from a weekend vacation where i wore a curly wig with my hair braided under. I took the braids out - damped my hair and used this for a quick twist out set. I left it overnight and my twists were PERFECT!!! and have held up in 90+ degree weather. Can't wait to wash my hair this weekend and see what it does on freshly washed hair. This is will be great!

Great hold, great moisture, no flakes!!

Love it!

Love this product. It makes my 3c/4a curls defined with no crunch . My hair is shiny but doesn't look wet or feel greasy. This is my favorite product for a wash and go!

Definition!

I used this product to do a braid out, and the results I got were amazing. My hair not only was super defined, it also had moisture to it. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because it does start to get flakey after about 2 days, but this could also be the gel im mixing it with.

Excellent Deep Confitioner

One of my favourite deep conditioners. My daughter and I alternate between this deep conditioner, Mane Choice Heavenly Halo and TGIN Honey Masque. We alternate so that our hair does not become dependent on one conditioner only. This allows our hair to thrive at its best. We apply the deep conditioner, cover it with a shower cap than the hot head or use the qredew hair steamer to apply the heat.

We always follow the instructions on the label regarding the amount of time the conditioner should remain on the head.

I have 4b/c hair and my daughter has 4c hair. We both use all three conditioners. Perfect for our hair.

This masque from Entwine leaves our hair soft, manageable and shiny. I deep condition weekly my daughter every 2 weeks as she’s only 3 years old and doesn’t have the time nor patience to always do her hair.

Once again this hair masque by Entwine coupled with our other 2 favourites mentioned above are the best.
